History of the college

A teacher's role is pivotal in shaping the future of society. Beyond imparting knowledge, teachers inspire and influence their students, guiding them towards a better future. Teacher education institutions play a crucial role in transforming individuals into capable educators who can make a positive impact.
Established on 19th October 2006, Sree Narayana Gurukripa B.Ed College (SNGK) has become a prominent institution in Kerala’s teacher education sector. Located in the rural outskirts of Pothencode, Thiruvananthapuram, the college was founded by Sri M. Thankappan and is managed by Sri T. Nirmalanandan. With nearly two decades of excellence, SNGK College has set a high standard in the field of teacher education.
A Glorious Journey
SNGK College started its journey in 2006 adhering to the guidelines of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The college initially offered six departments:
- English
- Social Science
- Commerce
- Physical Science
- Natural Science
- Mathematics
From the outset, SNGK College has maintained a strong commitment to quality education, keeping pace with the evolving trends and professional standards in the educational sector. As a self-financing institution affiliated with the University of Kerala, the college has built a reputation for excellence.
The founding principal, Smt. C. Sarayu, led the institution with a team of 8 teaching staff and 5 non-teaching staff. Following her, Smt. Vimalakumari Amma served as the second principal. Currently, the college is headed by Dr. Salini S, under whose leadership the college continues to thrive with a dedicated team of 10 faculty members, 5 office staffs, and 1 librarian.
