At Sree Narayana Guru Kripa B.Ed College, we have established a robust and transparent mechanism to address examination-related grievances. This system ensures that all students have the opportunity to voice their concerns and receive prompt and fair resolution, fostering an environment of trust and academic integrity.
Objectives
- Ensure Fairness and Transparency: To provide a clear and unbiased system for students to address concerns related to internal examinations and practical work assessments.
- Timely Resolution: To offer prompt and efficient resolution of grievances, ensuring that issues are addressed without delay.
- Support Student Development: To identify areas where students may need additional support and provide targeted guidance to improve their academic performance.
- Maintain Academic Integrity: To uphold high standards of academic evaluation by ensuring that the grievance process is handled with utmost care and responsibility.
Scope
- Mid-Semester and Internal Examinations: This mechanism applies to all internal exams conducted during the academic year, including mid-semester assessments, and covers concerns related to marking, evaluation criteria, and feedback.
- Practical Work Assessment: It extends to the evaluation of practical assignments, projects, and related work submitted by students as part of their coursework.
- Internal Marks and Feedback: The scope also includes the allocation, verification, and review of internal marks, as well as addressing any discrepancies or misunderstandings related to the same.
- Escalation and Redressal: The system provides a structured approach for students to escalate unresolved grievances to higher authorities, including the Principal and the Grievance Redressal Committee.
Mid-Semester Examinations
The college conducts mid-semester exams to assess students’ understanding of the subjects covered. These exams help identify students who may need additional guidance, allowing teachers to offer targeted support. After the exams, answer scripts are evaluated internally by subject teachers and returned within a week to provide timely feedback.
Evaluation of Practical Work
Students are required to submit practical assignments by the set deadlines. These are assessed based on a structured and predefined criterion, and internal marks are then recorded using a standard template. Marks are displayed on the notice board, offering students the chance to review their scores.
Procedure for Addressing Concerns
- Students can raise any concerns about their internal marks with the respective teacher, who will review the issue and, if necessary, make adjustments after verifying the evaluation criteria. This ensures a fair and transparent marking process.
- Once resolved, students confirm their acceptance of the internal marks by signing the mark sheet.
Escalation Process
- If a student is not satisfied with the outcome, they can escalate their grievance to the Principal. The Principal will forward the concern to the respective teacher, who will engage in a detailed discussion with the student, explaining the evaluation process and the rationale for mark allocation.
- If the issue is resolved, the marks are updated and resubmitted.
- For grievances that remain unresolved, the case is referred to the Grievance Redressal Committee for further review and resolution.
Role of the Grievance Redressal Committee
The Grievance Redressal Committee plays a critical role in ensuring fairness and transparency in the examination process. It is responsible for reviewing unresolved grievances, conducting a thorough investigation, and making recommendations for appropriate actions. The committee’s decisions are aimed at maintaining academic integrity and ensuring that every student’s concerns are addressed equitably.
Monitoring and Fairness
Regular monitoring by the Principal and faculty ensures that all student concerns are addressed promptly and fairly, maintaining the college’s commitment to a transparent and efficient evaluation process.
